The idea for Jailwatch was a search box that gave up a whole roster for two letters. After that it was a math problem — and the least these booths can do.

I was on the phone with the specialty pharmacy. Loading dose already in my body. Second dose ready to ship. And I sat through three rounds of “thank you so much for patiently waiting” before a human could even tell me what was wrong. Here’s what was wrong: the prior authorization was approved. On file. Done. But the second loading dose came in at a quantity of 56 instead of 28 — the number on a form changed — and that tripped a second gate I’d never heard of.
